One of the biggest steps to being prepared for summer includes finding the perfect bikini. There are plenty of organic, eco-friendly and fashionable options out there for everyone. I actually found that many different styles, colours and varying cuts were easier to find among eco-fashion collections then in what is available at my local shopping mall. You can really stand out from the crowd with these pieces, along with being environmentally conscious.
Check out these beaded straps, patterned and solid brights, tye dye and pieces with more support or (gasp!) fashionable one-pieces. Organic cotton bathing suits are plentiful and are made of cotton grown, processed and produced without the use of pesticides and other toxic chemicals. Many of these suits use natural fibers as well as repurposing fabric and manufacturing locally.
This year, polka dots have become the latest go-to print for spring and summer (thanks again Marc Jacobs). Why not incorporate them into your swimwear? One-pieces are back too, with colourful and patterned options keeping them young and fresh. Vintage-inspired cuts (inspired by Marilyn Monroe and other 50s icons) are more popular too instead of the ‘itsy bitsy’ bikini look that has dominated trends in the past.
